You wouldn’t believe it, yet every sound has a beat. Early in the morning, birds are chirping! Oh no, have you been to the Delhi Metro? The Arjangarh Metro Station on the Yellow Line has an extremely loud chorus of birds. Oh, it’s so lovely and peaceful. It gives me inner tranquilly.

Junior Jethu, as he likes to call himself. What a stunner dancer he is ❤

I’ve been attending workshops ever since I first started, but I haven’t been consistent. “It’s not necessary that you have to do all things of your life everyday,” my gym trainer once informed me. I think he meant to say to prioritise your work appropriately. I’m therefore happy that I was able to participate in dance workshops. I clearly recall attending Chinmany’s first workshop in Saket, Delhi. I had no idea what was occurring at all, and everyone around me was picking it up really quickly. I said, “All right! I’ll even do it.” I did perform at the end of the session, and several good and generous individuals applauded me. Strangely, sometimes strangers will cheer the loudest for you than your own people.

Since then — dance is a way to bring peace to my soul. If I have to know the well-being of my mental state — I go to dance classes. The day , I’m perfectly doing well — I know I would learn better. When days are low — I know I won’t be able to learn as quickly as I can. This has allowed me to learn about myself, and my limitations. It’s interesting how hobbies can make you learn more about yourself than any other job ever can.

Sharing what I learned after attending few dance workshops —

/ Trust me being on the phone all the isn’t cool. Give your phone some rest, and yourself too.

/ When you are constantly engage with your phone — you remain disconnect from the world and people around you. Then only it’s you, and your screen. World is very huge friend — peek outside a little.

/Be kind to yourself.

/ If not anything, be kind to fellows around you. You don’t know how someone’s day is actually going on — your kindness can at times be the reason for someone’s smile.

/ Do not judge the journey of your learning. It’s a process, and it will take time.

/ Do not be scared to mistakes. We all. A person on the stage also has done it nth number of times. Just do it, and keep learning.

/ Be polite.

/ When everyone in the classroom is learning, it becomes a safe space. You grow while you are helping others to grow.

/ Clap for performances for other folks as well. Do not become self consume. You learn more about your moves, when you watch someone dances. Pick up those moves which suits you the best

/ Performance becomes better when there is a good harmony between mind, and soul.

/ The belief you have in yourself shows in your performance. If you are happy, the performance may not be the perfect but it will surely shine.

/ Let the magic happen to your heart, and it will then happen to you.

/ Dance is the most beautiful movement. No movement is right or wrong — it’s just you and your moves. Embrace it .

/ It’s okay to take a step back, and relearn. When you do not know something, raise your hand, and ask fearlessely. You do not know how many folks you might be helping in the classroom while doing this. Do not be afraid to ask, and do not afraid to show you aren’t able to understand something in one go.

/ If you have failed in the first attempt, you go for the second attempt, and so on. Similarly, fail as many a times you want but don’t stop at failing — have a will to succeed, it will take you to places

/ There is no age bar to learn, and grow. If you want to learn anything be ready to make hundred mistakes in your first few hours of learning. Accept that you cannot be great in one go. Most of us fail here quite often.

/Fear will try to hold you back. Tell fear to take a back seat. Bet on yourself.

Remember, life is more than just work. Engage in activities that bring you joy, whether it’s hiking, playing sports, going for runs, or exploring other interests. Embrace the multitude of experiences life has to offer, and you’ll find true enjoyment in them
